Private Prescriptions

Private Medical Clinic can provide private prescriptions for our patients to allow them to address their health concerns quickly and access medication that is not available through the NHS. Unlike NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions are not covered by the NHS. Private doctors are unable to provide NHS prescriptions. The cost of a private prescription is paid entirely by the patient and depends on the cost of the medicine and the pharmacy’s charge for supplying the medication. We charge a £25 fee for issuing patients with a private prescription.

Requesting Medications

When you consult with one of our experienced GPs at the Private Medical Clinic, they assume complete responsibility for your healthcare, including the prescription of medications when required. This signifies that even if a private doctor has suggested a specific medication, your GP can still issue the prescription, provided specific conditions are satisfied.

It is advised to inform your NHS GP about any private prescriptions you receive to avoid duplication and ensure seamless continuity of care in your overall healthcare management.

When might we decline to provide a Private Prescription?

While your GP at Private Medical Clinic is committed to your well-being, there are situations in which they may decline to issue a private prescription. These circumstances encompass:
Inadequate communication
Appropriateness of medication
Licensing and safety
Specialist expertise
National and local guidelines
Similar NHS medication
